Aim & Scope

The scopes of the journal include, but are not limited to, the following fields:


  • Department of Biotechnology in Vignan’s University is currently having three sponsored projects from the Department of Science and Technology, Govt. of India. One major research project on the topic entitled ‘Molecular heterogeneity of Hemocyanins of endemic gastropods’ and another two Fast Track projects on the topics (i) ‘Design of fungal medium for the growth of fungal strains’ and (ii) ‘Molecular Phylogeography and population genetics structure of Kingiodendron pinnatum in Western Ghats of India: Implications for conservation management’. In addition, the DST FIST is sanctioned to the Department of Biotechnology on the topic of ‘Waste Management’.
  • The members of the faculty are interested on the following areas of research viz., Microbial biotechnology wherein they are isolating and screening bacteria from dairy effluents and products, waste waters and antimicrobial activity of plant extracts.
  • Drug synthesis and their analytical validations, and in-silico docking studies using selected ligands.
  • Molecular phylogeography, phylogeny and evolutionary genomics of a few selected bacterial, plant and gastropod species. History of processes and principles governing the geographical distribution of various plant species using chloroplast DNA and synonymous Codon Usage (SCU) of protein coding genes in organelles like chloroplast and mitochondria are under intensive investigation to identify the major forces causing SCU bias. 16S rDNA, 18S rDNA and 28S rDNA, COI, NADH gene polymorphism is under exploration to reconfirm the evolutionary relationships among the endemic gastropods.
  • Plant Biotechnology: Micropropagation, in vitro experimental studies of plant tissues and hardening and field transformation studies of selected endemic medicinal and economically important plant species: Andrographis paniculata, Mitragyna parviflora, Wrightia tinctoria etc,. Extraction of essential exudates and metabolites from plant tissues for the applications in pharmaceuticals.

     Civil engineering is a broad field of engineering that deals with the planning, construction, and maintenance of fixed structures, or public works, as they are related to earth, water, or civilization and their processes. Most civil engineering today deals with power plants, bridges, roads, railways, structures, water supply, irrigation, the natural environment, sewer, flood control, transportation and traffic. In essence, civil engineering may be regarded as the profession that makes the world a more agreeable place in which to live.
